What are the different lens types?

Single Vision Lenses

If you need vision correction to see at one distance, either close up or far away, we will recommend single vision lenses from our quality Rodenstock lens range together with a premium anti-reflection lens coating to further enhance your vision.

Multifocal or Progressive Lenses

These two terms are used to describe lenses which allow you to see close up, at intermediate and longer distances. Multifocal lenses are most commonly prescribed for distance lens wearers over the age of 40 who may also be struggling to read at close distance. Rodenstock’s Multigressive range can be individually tailored to meet your near and distance vision requirements.

Lenses for Multi-Device Use

They’re sometimes referred to as ‘computer lenses’ but they do so much more! Our device-driven lifestyle makes our eyes work very hard, using computers, tablets and smartphones and constantly switching our vision from one to the other. This often results in digital eye strain symptoms including sore, irritated eyes and headaches. Specialised lenses such as Rodenstock’s Ergo range for multi-device use enable comfortable reading at close and intermediate distances together with a protective blue light filter, so your vision can move comfortably from your smartphone to your laptop and back again.

Transitions Lenses

The technologically advanced range of Transitions lenses adapt to changing light conditions. They darken when you are outdoors, providing UV protection and lighten to a clear lens when indoors. Suitable for both adults and children, Transitions lenses are available in a range of darkening tints including grey, brown and green and they are suitable for all types of lenses.
